Can Anti-Inflammatory drugs stop strokes before they strike again?

NCT ID NCT05476991

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 31, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study is testing whether two drugs—colchicine (an anti-inflammatory) and ticagrelor (a blood thinner)—can reduce the risk of another stroke, heart attack, or related events in people who have already had a stroke. About 2,800 participants will take these medications long-term to see if controlling inflammation helps prevent future problems. The goal is to improve outcomes for high-risk patients, but ongoing medication is required.
