New scan could spot hidden prostate cancer spread

NCT ID NCT03173924

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 15, 2026 · Updated 32 times

Summary

This study compares two types of PET scans to see which better finds prostate cancer that has spread. About 96 adults with metastatic prostate cancer will receive an experimental radiotracer (18F-DCFPyL) and a standard one (18F-NaF) on different days, then have whole-body scans. The goal is to see if the new tracer identifies more cancer sites, which could improve diagnosis and treatment planning.
