New Imaging-Guided combo therapy aims to slow prostate cancer spread
NCT ID NCT06832774
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether adding targeted local treatments (like radiation or surgery) to standard hormone therapy can slow disease progression in men with metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer. Doctors will use PSMA PET/CT scans to find remaining active tumors after initial hormone therapy. The trial enrolls 192 men who have not had prior prostate cancer treatment.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Gonadotropin releasing hormone analog (GnRHa) plus novel hormone therapy (abiraterone, apalutamide, or rezvilutamide) combined with local treatment (radiotherapy, surgery, or HIFU)
What this could lead to
If successful, this approach could help doctors personalize treatment for metastatic prostate cancer, potentially delaying disease progression and extending survival.
What could go wrong
This is a phase 2 trial with only 192 participants, so results may not apply to all patients. The added local treatments carry risks like radiation side effects or surgical complications.
