Lab-Grown Mini-Tumors could predict best prostate cancer therapy

NCT ID NCT07004582

First seen Jan 29, 2026 · Last updated Jun 22, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study aims to find the best way to grow 3D mini-tumors from prostate cancer patients' own tissue. Researchers will compare two lab techniques to see which one can successfully test different treatments on these mini-tumors. The goal is to eventually help doctors choose the most effective treatment for each patient, especially those with aggressive or recurrent prostate cancer. 600 participants will provide tissue samples during their standard care procedures.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could lead to a personalized way to predict the most effective treatment for each prostate cancer patient, potentially improving survival and reducing trial-and-error.

What could go wrong

This is an early-stage lab study, not a treatment trial. The techniques may not work reliably for all tumor types, and results may not translate to better patient outcomes in practice.

Conditions
