Proton beam trial aims to extend lives in aggressive lung cancer

Summary
This UK trial is testing whether proton beam radiation therapy can help control malignant pleural mesothelioma, a serious cancer often linked to asbestos exposure. Researchers will compare proton therapy against standard watchful waiting in 148 patients whose cancer is confined to one side of the chest. The goal is to see if this targeted radiation can delay cancer progression and extend survival while maintaining quality of life.
