Triple-Drug cocktail targets Hard-to-Treat mesothelioma
NCT ID NCT06318286
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This phase 2 trial tests a combination of three types of drugs—an immunotherapy (pembrolizumab), a targeted therapy (lenvatinib), and chemotherapy (pemetrexed plus cisplatin or carboplatin)—as a first treatment for people with advanced malignant pleural mesothelioma that cannot be removed by surgery. The study aims to see how well this combination shrinks tumors and how safe it is. About 25 participants will receive the drugs in cycles, followed by maintenance therapy.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- pembrolizumab, lenvatinib, pemetrexed, and cisplatin or carboplatin
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this combination could offer a new first-line treatment option for people with advanced malignant pleural mesothelioma, potentially improving tumor shrinkage and delaying disease progression.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-phase trial with only 25 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The combination of multiple drugs also raises the risk of significant side effects.
