First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tested whether a problem-solving skills program called Bright IDEAS helps parents of children undergoing stem cell transplants. Thirty-eight parents were randomly assigned to either the training or standard support. The goal was to see if the program is feasible and acceptable, and whether it reduces parents' distress and improves their child's quality of life. Results will show if this approach is worth testing in larger trials.

Active substance

Bright IDEAS Problem-Solving Skills Training (behavioral intervention)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could give parents practical tools to cope better during their child's transplant, possibly reducing stress and improving family well-being.

What could go wrong

This is a small feasibility study with only 38 participants, so results may not apply to all families. The training requires time and effort, and benefits may be modest.
