Could a better scan slash liver cancer deaths? major VA trial launches

Summary
This study tests whether a faster MRI scan (aMRI) plus a blood test (AFP) can find liver cancer earlier than the usual ultrasound plus AFP in 4,700 people with cirrhosis. The goal is to catch tumors at an early, more treatable stage and ultimately reduce deaths from liver cancer. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of the two screening methods and followed over time.
