Single radiation dose before surgery may improve brain tumor control
NCT ID NCT05030298
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This phase I trial is testing whether giving a single, high dose of radiation (radiosurgery) before surgery can help control high grade glioma, a fast-growing brain tumor. About 28 adults with newly diagnosed or previously biopsied high grade glioma will receive radiosurgery followed by standard surgery and chemotherapy. The main goal is to find the safest dose and see if this approach reduces side effects and improves tumor control.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Radiation therapy (radiosurgery) and temozolomide
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a safer, more effective way to treat high grade glioma by giving radiation before surgery.
What could go wrong
This is a very early phase I trial with only 28 participants, so it is primarily testing safety and dosing. The approach may not improve outcomes or could cause unexpected side effects.
