Brain Tumor's hidden electrical signals could reveal its weaknesses

NCT ID NCT07616726

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study will test whether a special brain scan called magnetoencephalography (MEG) can detect electrical differences within gliomas, the most common malignant brain tumors in adults. Researchers will scan 60 newly diagnosed patients before surgery to see if MEG can identify more aggressive tumor areas. The goal is to better understand why these tumors resist treatment and find new ways to attack them.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could lead to new ways to understand why some parts of a glioma are more aggressive and resistant to treatment, potentially guiding future therapies.

What could go wrong

This is an early feasibility study with only 60 participants, so it may not produce clear or generalizable results. MEG recordings may not reliably capture tumor heterogeneity in all patients.
