Study aims to predict breathing effort in ARDS recovery
NCT ID NCT04524091
First seen Apr 18, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study looks at 30 adults recovering from acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) who are on a breathing machine. Researchers want to see if increasing the pressure in the lungs (called PEEP) can reduce the effort needed to breathe, which may prevent further lung damage. They will measure changes in lung stiffness and breathing rate to find a simple way to predict who benefits from higher pressure.
