NCT ID NCT07357935
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether giving steroids based on a patient's immune status can reduce deaths in severe pneumonia with respiratory failure. About 500 ICU patients will receive methylprednisolone, with doses adjusted according to their inflammatory profile. The goal is to find out who benefits most from this treatment.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Methylprednisolone (a steroid drug)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that personalized steroid dosing improves survival in severe pneumonia patients.
What could go wrong
This is an early-phase study (Phase 1/2) with 500 participants, so results may not apply broadly. Steroids also carry risks like infections and high blood sugar.
