First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tests whether a guided exercise program done at home before knee replacement surgery can help people recover better. 84 adults scheduled for knee replacement will be asked to do simple exercises daily from the day they are admitted until surgery. Researchers will measure pain, stiffness, and function using a standard questionnaire, and also track how well participants stick to the exercise plan.

- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could point toward a simple, low-cost way to help people recover faster and with less pain after knee replacement surgery.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage study with only 84 participants. The exercises are self-directed, so results may vary, and the program may not lead to significant improvements over standard care.
