Gastric sleeve secrets: study tracks how appetite hormones shift after surgery
NCT ID NCT07636239
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study follows 40 people who recently had laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy to see how their eating behavior, nutrition, and appetite-regulating hormones change over 6 months. Researchers will measure hormones like ghrelin, GLP-1, and PYY, along with dietary intake and eating attitudes. The goal is to better understand the biological and behavioral changes that lead to weight loss after surgery.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could help doctors better understand how gastric sleeve surgery changes appetite and eating habits, leading to improved post-surgery care.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early observational study with only 40 participants and no control group. Results may not apply to everyone, and it only tracks changes for 6 months.
