Wrist-Worn gadget could help doctors monitor Parkinson's at home
NCT ID NCT05251701
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested a wrist-worn device called the Personal KinetiGraph (PKG) to see if it can accurately measure movement problems in people with Parkinson's disease. Nineteen participants wore the device while researchers compared its readings to standard clinical tests and video recordings. The goal was to validate new ways to track walking, tremors, and other symptoms, which could eventually help doctors monitor patients remotely.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Personal KinetiGraph® (PKG®) System (wrist-worn device)
What this could lead to
If successful, this device could provide doctors with a simple, objective way to track Parkinson's symptoms and disease progression at home.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early validation study with only 19 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The device is not a treatment and cannot change the course of the disease.
