Could extra ablation spots stop stubborn AFib?

NCT ID NCT07405359

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study compares two ablation methods for people with persistent atrial fibrillation (AFib), a heart rhythm problem. One group gets standard treatment (isolating the pulmonary veins), while the other gets that plus extra ablation on the back wall of the heart and a nearby vein. The goal is to see if the extra ablation prevents AFib from coming back for at least a year. About 220 adults with persistent AFib will take part.
