Experimental combo for advanced head and neck cancer shows early safety signals
NCT ID NCT02819752
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This early-phase study tested whether adding the immunotherapy drug pembrolizumab to standard chemoradiotherapy is safe for people with stage IV head and neck cancer. Only 3 participants were enrolled before the study was stopped. The main goal was to find the highest safe dose and track side effects, especially mouth and skin reactions. Because the study was terminated early, no firm conclusions about effectiveness can be drawn.
