Parkinson's study tests peer-powered fitness for latino seniors
NCT ID NCT06170866
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested whether a culturally tailored program using a fitness tracker and a peer partner could help older Latino adults with Parkinson's disease become more active. Ten participants wore activity monitors, watched educational videos, met weekly with a peer online, and joined virtual exercise classes for 8 weeks. The goal was to see if the program was acceptable and feasible, and to measure changes in physical activity, motivation, and mood.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
peer-supported mobile health physical activity intervention
What this could lead to
If successful, this approach could offer a practical, culturally tailored way to help older Latino adults with Parkinson's disease stay physically active and improve their well-being.
What could go wrong
This was a very small feasibility study with only 10 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The program relies on technology and social support, which may not work for all individuals.
