New drug cocktail aims to tackle tough sarcomas in young patients
NCT ID NCT06709495
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests a new drug called PEEL-224 combined with two standard chemotherapy drugs (vincristine and temozolomide) in adolescents and young adults whose sarcomas have returned or not responded to treatment. The trial has two phases: first, finding the safest dose, then checking how well the combination shrinks tumors. About 63 participants with Ewing sarcoma, desmoplastic small round cell tumors, or other sarcomas will be enrolled.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- PEEL-224 (a topoisomerase 1 inhibitor) combined with vincristine and temozolomide
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this combination could offer a new treatment option for young people with sarcomas that have come back or not responded to standard therapy.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early-phase trial with a small number of participants, so the benefits are uncertain. The drugs may cause serious side effects, and the combination might not shrink tumors effectively.
