Navigating hope: study tests whether patient guides boost trial enrollment for cancer patients
NCT ID NCT06138067
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compares two levels of patient navigation—high-intensity versus low-intensity—to see which helps more people with prostate or kidney cancer enroll in clinical trials. About 90 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either extra support from a patient navigator or standard materials. The goal is to find better ways to connect patients with potential new treatments.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
patient navigation program
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that extra support helps more cancer patients join clinical trials, potentially improving access to new treatments.
What could go wrong
This is a small pilot study with only 90 participants, so results may not apply broadly. It tests a support program, not a treatment, so it won't directly cure or control cancer.
