Knee surgery upgrade: nerve burn may ease Post-Op pain
NCT ID NCT07342166
First seen Jan 21, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study tested a technique called patellar denervation, where doctors use a heated tool to burn certain nerves around the kneecap during total knee replacement surgery. The goal was to see if this extra step reduces knee pain and improves function after surgery. The trial included 64 adults aged 55-85 with knee osteoarthritis who were already scheduled for knee replacement. Results will show whether this nerve-burning approach offers any extra benefit over standard surgery alone.
