Brain scans reveal serotonin clues in Parkinson's

NCT ID NCT05916625

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 11, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study looked at a specific serotonin receptor (5-HT4) in the brains of people with mild to moderate Parkinson's disease compared to healthy volunteers. Using PET scans, researchers measured receptor levels and checked how they relate to movement, thinking, and mood symptoms. The goal was to better understand the role of serotonin in Parkinson's, not to test a treatment.
