New MRI aims to catch pancreatic cancer early in High-Risk patients
NCT ID NCT07612046
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jul 10, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study tests a dedicated MRI scan of the pancreas (MRP) to see if it can detect pancreatic cancer earlier in people at high risk. About 79 participants with a strong family history or certain genetic mutations will get both the new MRI and an endoscopic ultrasound. The goal is to compare image quality and improve screening.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- MRI scan (Magnetic Resonance CholangioPancreatography) and endoscopic ultrasound
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could lead to a better screening method to catch pancreatic cancer earlier in people at high risk.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small pilot study (79 people) focused on image quality, not yet on cancer detection. The new MRI may not prove better than current methods.
