New pain block may beat epidural for cancer surgery recovery

Summary

This study tests a newer pain relief method (a nerve block in the belly wall) against the standard epidural for people having major abdominal cancer surgery. The goal is to see which approach better controls pain and reduces the need for extra morphine. About 50 adults will take part to help find a safer, effective option.
