First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether online group cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) can reduce depression, anxiety, and other mental health symptoms in adults with cystic fibrosis and their caregivers. Participants will attend 13 sessions via Zoom and be compared to those receiving supportive therapy or no therapy. The goal is to see if this convenient, remote approach can improve emotional well-being and daily functioning.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- online group cognitive behavioral psychotherapy
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could offer an effective, accessible way to improve mental health for people with cystic fibrosis and their caregivers.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial (52 people) testing a behavioral intervention, so results may not apply broadly. The therapy requires commitment to 13 online sessions, which may not suit everyone.
