First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looked at whether taking omeprazole (a heartburn drug) and low-dose aspirin together could help prevent colorectal polyps in people at high risk. Twenty-one adults with a history of multiple polyps took both pills daily for 25-45 days. Researchers collected tissue samples before and after treatment to measure changes in cell growth and gene activity that might signal a preventive effect.
