Could a Three-Drug cocktail save more cardiac arrest patients?
NCT ID NCT06203847
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether giving a combination of three drugs (epinephrine, vasopressin, and a steroid) during emergency treatment for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest can restart the heart and improve survival compared to the standard drug epinephrine alone. About 1,344 adults in Taipei who suffer sudden cardiac arrest will be randomly assigned to receive either the drug combo or standard care. The main goal is to see if the combo leads to a sustained return of spontaneous circulation for at least 2 hours.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
epinephrine, vasopressin, and methylprednisolone
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a more effective emergency treatment for cardiac arrest, potentially saving more lives and improving recovery.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage trial with 1,344 participants, and the drug combo may not improve outcomes or could have side effects. Results may not apply to all cardiac arrest cases.
