Scientists hunt for clues to predict weight loss success after stomach surgery

NCT ID NCT06153056

First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated May 11, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study aims to identify factors that predict how much weight people lose after a procedure called endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty, a less invasive stomach surgery for obesity. Researchers will follow 205 adults with obesity (BMI 30-35 with complications, or over 35 if surgery was denied) for 12 months, analyzing blood samples and clinical data. The goal is to improve patient selection and outcomes, not to test a new treatment.
