Summary
This study tests an experimental drug called ALN-2232, given alone or together with the approved weight-loss drug tirzepatide, in 156 adults with obesity. The goal is to see if the combination is safe and leads to more weight loss than either drug alone. Participants will receive injections and be monitored for side effects and changes in body weight.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
ALN-2232 (an experimental drug) and tirzepatide (a weight-loss drug)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a new combination treatment for obesity that helps people lose more weight than current options.
What could go wrong
This is an early-phase trial with only 156 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The experimental drug ALN-2232 has unknown safety and effectiveness at this stage.
