New obesity drug candidates enter human testing
NCT ID NCT07337174
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This early-stage trial will test two similar injectable drugs for obesity, called HUC2-676 and HUC2-676-R, in 40 healthy adults. Each person will receive a single dose of both drugs at different times to compare safety and how the body processes them. The study is not yet recruiting and aims to gather basic safety data before moving to larger trials.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
HUC2-676 and HUC2-676-R (injectable drugs for obesity)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could help identify which version of the drug is safer and more effective for weight management.
What could go wrong
This is an early Phase 1 trial in only 40 healthy people, not those with obesity. It focuses on safety and drug levels, not weight loss. Many early drugs fail to show benefit in later trials.
