First seen Mar 22, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 15 times
Summary
This study looks at whether non-invasive tests like blood counts and spleen size can accurately predict the presence and severity of enlarged veins (varices) in the esophagus of children with portal hypertension. The goal is to identify those at high risk of bleeding without needing an endoscopy. The study will enroll 51 children under 18 with portal hypertension and compare these simple markers to the standard endoscopic exam.
