New hope for brain cancer? drug niraparib tested in early trial

NCT ID NCT05076513

First seen Mar 15, 2026 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This early-phase trial tests the drug niraparib in up to 42 people with two types of brain tumors: newly-diagnosed glioblastoma (a fast-growing cancer) and recurrent IDH-mutant glioma (a slower-growing type). The study first checks if the drug reaches the tumor and shows biological activity. If it does, participants then receive more doses, either with standard radiation or alone, to see if it helps control the disease. The goal is to find a new treatment option for these hard-to-treat cancers.
