Scientists test vitamin B3 derivative to boost brain energy in Alzheimer's patients
NCT ID NCT05617508
Summary
This study aimed to find the best and safest dose of a supplement called nicotinamide riboside (NR), a form of vitamin B3, for people with Alzheimer's disease. Researchers tested three different daily doses (1000mg, 2000mg, and 3000mg) against a placebo in 80 participants over 12 weeks. The main goal was to see which dose best increased a key brain energy molecule and altered brain metabolism patterns, as measured by brain scans and spinal fluid tests.
