New Dual-Targeted PET scan aims to spot cancers more clearly
NCT ID NCT07639801
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tests a new radioactive tracer called 68Ga-FAPI-PSMA for PET/CT scans to see if it can find and stage solid tumors (like prostate, liver, and ovarian cancers) better than current tracers. About 20 adults with suspected or confirmed tumors will receive the tracer and have imaging done. The goal is to see if the dual-targeted approach improves detection accuracy.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
68Ga-FAPI-PSMA (a radioactive tracer for PET imaging)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a more accurate way to detect and stage solid tumors, potentially improving treatment planning.
What could go wrong
This is a very early, small study with only 20 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The new tracer may not be better than existing methods.
