Could a simple breathing device boost heart rehab?
NCT ID NCT07161219
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study will test whether adding a special breathing exercise (inspiratory muscle training) to standard cardiac rehab helps heart patients recover better. About 80 adults who have been hospitalized for a heart condition will take part. The main goal is to see if the training improves breathing muscle strength, and researchers will also check overall fitness, lung function, and quality of life.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
inspiratory muscle training device
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a simple, low-cost addition to cardiac rehab that helps heart patients breathe better and feel stronger.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 80 participants. The benefits may be modest or not apply to all heart patients, and the training device may be inconvenient for some.
