First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a special mouthwash containing N-acetylcysteine can prevent painful mouth sores (oral mucositis) in patients receiving a stem cell transplant. These sores are a common and serious side effect that can cause severe pain and longer hospital stays. The trial involves 106 adult patients and compares the mouthwash to a placebo to see if it safely reduces the number of people who develop these sores.
