Eye signs may reveal hidden awareness during surgery

NCT ID NCT07199049

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 33 times

Summary

This study watches 60 adults having planned abdominal surgery to see if eyelid reflexes, eye movements, and pupil size changes can show how deep their anesthesia is. Doctors will check these signs at three points during surgery and compare them to standard brain monitoring. The goal is to find simple, non-invasive ways to detect if a patient might be aware during surgery.
