First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This pilot study tested a virtual program designed to help older men at high risk for fractures reduce their risk of falls and broken bones. The program included personalized exercise plans delivered through a smartphone app and virtual nutrition counseling. Researchers enrolled 45 men aged 60 and older to see if the approach was feasible and acceptable.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Multifaceted virtual fracture prevention program (exercise prescription via app and virtual nutrition counseling)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a larger study that helps older men prevent falls and fractures through a convenient home-based program.
What could go wrong
This is a small pilot study with only 45 participants, focused on feasibility rather than proving the program works. Results may not apply to all older men.
