Heart imaging may sharpen risk prediction for lung blood pressure patients

NCT ID NCT07667673

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether detailed heart scans (echocardiograms and MRIs) can improve how doctors predict short-term risks in people with a type of high blood pressure in the lungs (pulmonary arterial hypertension). Researchers will follow 50 adults for 6 months to see if adding scan results to standard risk tools changes risk ratings and better identifies who might get worse. The goal is to improve monitoring, not to test a new treatment.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could lead to better ways to identify which patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension are at highest risk of worsening, helping doctors tailor treatment more precisely.

What could go wrong

This is a small, single-center observational study, not a treatment trial. It may not prove that imaging improves outcomes, and results may not apply to all patients.
