Special treadmill training may help ACL recovery

NCT ID NCT06529692

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether walking on a split-belt treadmill (where each leg moves at a different speed) can improve how the knee loads weight after ACL reconstruction. Nine people who had ACL surgery within the past 10 months will be randomly assigned to one of two training groups or a placebo group. The goal is to gather pilot data for a larger future trial.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

split-belt treadmill training

What this could lead to

If it works, this could point toward a simple walking exercise to help people regain normal knee function after ACL surgery.

What could go wrong

This is a very small pilot study with only 9 people, so results may not apply to everyone. It is designed to gather data for a future trial, not to prove effectiveness yet.
