Could eating only during daylight hours improve cancer treatment?
NCT ID NCT06802172
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether eating only within an 8-hour window (time-restricted eating) can improve how well cancer treatments work and reduce side effects. It involves 100 Alaska Native and American Indian patients with breast or rectal cancer. Participants will follow the eating plan while receiving standard treatment, and researchers will track tumor response and side effects.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
time-restricted eating
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple, sustainable way to boost cancer treatment effectiveness and reduce side effects without strict dieting.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage trial with only 100 participants, so results may not apply broadly. Time-restricted eating may be hard to maintain for some, and its benefits are not yet proven.
