Summary

This study looks at whether doing periodic lung recruitment maneuvers (a technique to reopen collapsed lung areas) during spine surgery helps reduce lung collapse compared to the standard single-time approach. Sixty adults having elective spine surgery while lying face-down will be randomly assigned to either periodic or standard maneuvers. Lung health will be checked using ultrasound, a non-invasive imaging method.
