Lullabies for epilepsy: a musical stress relief for expectant moms
NCT ID NCT05503290
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This pilot study tests whether participating in the Lullaby Project—where pregnant women with epilepsy work with musicians to create a personal lullaby—can improve their quality of life and reduce anxiety, depression, and stress. Thirty first-time pregnant women with epilepsy will be randomly assigned to the lullaby program or standard care. The goal is to see if this creative, non-drug approach offers emotional benefits during pregnancy.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Lullaby Project (music composition program)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple, non-drug way to ease stress and improve well-being during pregnancy for people with epilepsy.
What could go wrong
This is a very small pilot study (30 people) with no blinding, so results may not be generalizable. The main benefit is likely emotional support, not a medical treatment.
