Scientists probe energy cells in long COVID mystery

NCT ID NCT07134673

First seen May 06, 2026 · Last updated May 06, 2026

Summary

This study looks at how tiny energy factories inside cells (mitochondria) work in people with long COVID compared to those fully recovered. Researchers will measure oxygen use in blood, skin, and muscle using non-invasive tests. The goal is to understand if long COVID affects how cells produce energy, which could help explain symptoms like fatigue. 54 adults with long COVID or who have fully recovered will take part.
