NCT ID NCT05494424
First seen Aug 11, 2026 · Last updated Aug 12, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a structured cognitive training program, called Goal Management Training, can improve attention and executive function in adults who have persistent cognitive difficulties after a COVID-19 infection. Participants aged 18 to 65 with confirmed COVID-19 and everyday attention or planning problems lasting at least two months are randomly assigned to either the training or a wait-list. The training is delivered online in small groups over six weekly sessions, and the main outcome is self-reported executive function six months later.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Goal Management Training (GMT), a cognitive rehabilitation program delivered online in group sessions
- What this could lead to
- If effective, this training could offer a practical, non-drug way to improve everyday attention and planning for people with lingering cognitive symptoms after COVID-19.
- What could go wrong
- The trial is relatively small and uses a wait-list control, so results may not apply to everyone. Benefits may be modest, and not all participants may respond.
