AI could make liver tumor treatment more precise
NCT ID NCT06179602
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study will collect data from 1,500 people with liver tumors who are getting a procedure called thermal ablation, which uses heat to destroy tumors. Researchers will use artificial intelligence to analyze the data and find better ways to select patients, plan treatments, and predict outcomes. The goal is to make thermal ablation a go-to treatment for most liver tumor patients.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
thermal ablation
What this could lead to
If successful, this could make thermal ablation a standard, widely accessible treatment for most liver tumor patients.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study collecting data to develop AI algorithms. It does not test a new treatment directly, so benefits are uncertain and years away.
