MRI peek inside gut could unlock new cystic fibrosis clues

NCT ID NCT07569419

First seen May 08, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026

Summary

This study uses MRI scans to see exactly where the drug linaclotide works in the gut. Linaclotide is currently used for constipation, but researchers want to know if it could help people with cystic fibrosis, a condition where the gut doesn't handle fluids properly. 26 healthy volunteers aged 18-60 will take the drug or a placebo and have their small and large intestine water content measured by MRI. The goal is to understand the drug's action better, not to treat any disease directly.
