NCT ID NCT07665203

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study will enroll 200 children with cystic fibrosis (100 Hispanic, 100 non-Hispanic white) to measure indoor and outdoor air pollution and see how it relates to lung function, inflammation, and airway bacteria. Researchers hope to understand why Hispanic children often have worse lung disease. No treatment is given; the goal is to gather knowledge.

What this could lead to

If this study finds that air pollution worsens cystic fibrosis, it could point to ways to reduce lung damage by improving home air quality.

What could go wrong

This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It will not test any drug or device, so it cannot directly improve health. Results may not apply to all children with CF.
