Light therapy on hand points may ease insomnia and anxiety
NCT ID NCT07190417
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether shining low-level laser or LED light on specific acupoints on the hand can help people relax and improve sleep and anxiety. Researchers will measure heart rate and energy levels in 60 healthy volunteers before and after light therapy. The goal is to see if this non-invasive approach could become a drug-free option for insomnia.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
low-level laser and LED light therapy
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a non-drug, light-based option to help people with insomnia relax and sleep better.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with healthy volunteers, not patients with insomnia. The effects may be small or no better than placebo, and skin pigmentation may affect results.
