First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study tested a program of weight loss, exercise, and the diabetes drug metformin in 114 older veterans (ages 65-85) who were obese and frail. The goal was to see if this combination could improve physical function, strength, and mobility better than lifestyle changes alone. Results showed that the combined approach helped reverse frailty and sarcopenic obesity, offering a practical way to improve independence and quality of life in this population.
